Lexington

He was an instrumental part of Lexington's run for state basketball championships during the mid-I 960s. He played on the 1965 and 1967 Lexington teams that advanced to the state tournament in Tuscaloosa. He broke a state toumament scoring record in 1967 by scoring 77 points in three games. He averaged 21 points and was an All-State selection as a senior as the Bears finished third in the state. He also was an all-star baseball player in high school, and later played on independent teams in Lexington and Elgin. He played basketball and baseball for four years at SI. Bernard College. He began coaching boys basketball at Sulligent in 1973, and coached I 0 seasons. H is first three teams advanced to the state tournament in Tuscaloosa. He won 20I games during the 10-year period, and was conference coach of the year three times.
