His exploits as a four-sport letterman at Sheffield High School were enough to earn him a baseball and basketball scholarship to Florence Teachers College where he lettered all four years. His first coaching job was at Appleby Junior High School where he compiled a phenomenal 214-18 record, highlighted by one stretch of winning 64 straight games. He moved to Bradshaw High School where he started the program and had an impressive 253-180 record. The highlight of this coaching career came in 1976 as his Bruins won the 4A State Championship, and he was selected as Coach of the Year for all classifications. His overall coaching record of 467-198 averages over 20 wins per season. He served as president of the AHSAA and started the first basketball camp in the Shoals for children ages 6-12. Along with Bubba Scott, Frost founded the annual Alabama / Mississippi All-Star Game and he has served as a committee member on the NCAA Division II National Championship Football Committee since 1986. Frost also served as the mayor of Florence from 1984-2001.
