Coffee
He participated in baseball, basketball and football at Coffee from 1948-1951. He started in right field in 1948 and played in the first playoff game after World War II, with the Jackets losing to Woodlawn in the championship game. He also played in the state championship game in basketball in 1950, with the Jackets losing to Lanier. He was team captain for the football team as a junior and senior. Selected first team All-State lineman in 1950-51, and also named to the All Tri-Cities and All- TVC teams. He played freshman football at Alabama before going to Wyoming where he played two years and was part of the 1956 Sun Bowl team that beat Texas Tech. He was selected All-Conference tackle for the Cowboys. He coached at Sheffield, Coffee, Tennessee Tech and Bradshaw.
