Branscome, Lisa (Smith)

Mars Hill

Lisa was a three sport athlete at Mars Hill. She played basketball and softball and competed in track 1990-1995. She played basketball for four seasons. Her teams won a county championship, two area championships, and was a state runner up. She finished her career with 1,013 points. She started six years at second base on the varsity softball team. She led the team with hits (90 in senior season and 325 career). She had .570 batting average her senior year with 65 runs scores (9 HR, 12 doubles, 9 triples, and 48 rbi’s). Her teams won two sectional championships, and runner up in state championship play. She was named to the 1st Team Birmingham News and Times Daily Class 1A-3A in 1995. Career highlights included a grand slam in state playoffs and a batting average of .636 in the state tournament. She earned a scholarship to play softball at Freed Hardeman. She transferred to UNA and played one year with the Lions. She also won a bronze medal in the long jump and triple jump at state meet.
