Whitney followed in her father’s footsteps onto the basketball floor. She was a member of the last Bradshaw High School girls’ basketball team and the first Florence High School team. She was named All-State in 2003. She averaged 21 points per game, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists per game in 2004. She made the Times Daily All-Area Team, Alabama Super 5 Team, and participated in the North/South All Star game. In 2005 she averaged 20 points per game, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists per game. She was named Times Daily Basketball Player of the Year, Alabama Miss Basketball 2005, McDonald’s All-American Nominee, and a participant in the Alabama / Mississippi All Star game. She earned a scholarship to play basketball at Auburn University. She made All-SEC second team in 2008. In 2009 she led the nation in assists with 7.9 per game and assist to turnover ratio 2.65 per game. She made first team All-SEC and All-American while setting a school record with 262 assists in a season and becoming the all-time leader in assists at Auburn with 603. She was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team while helping lead her team to become the 2009 SEC Champions. She averaged 11 points per game, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 steals. She was drafted by the Sacramento Monarchs (WNBA) in 2009. Her career average was 16 points per game, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
