Outstanding athlete who transferred from Mars Hill to Rogers High School after the ninth grade just to have the opportunity to play sports other than basketball. He sat out one season to become eligible and went on to become an all-state performer in football, basketball and baseball. He started at quarterback as a junior and was selected to the All-State team. The season highlight was five touchdowns in the final game. In basketball he averaged 20 points per game and played in the state all-star game. He also competed in the state all-star game in baseball. He turned down scholarship offers to smaller schools and walked on at Auburn.
