Beavers, Charles

Played basketball at Lexington High School. He played with Bill Jones who is also in the Lauderdale County Hall of Fame. He was selected all-District in basketball as a senior. He played basketball two years at Freed-Hardeman College, starting at center for two seasons. He helped begin interscholastic sports at Mars Hill. He coached basketball at Mars Hill for 16 years, with a record of 294-191. Coach Beavers made five trips to the state tournament, placing third three times. His teams won eight area championships and 12 Alabama Bible School championships. He also served as head track coach 12 years, winning the State Bible School meet twice.
